Stacked Pyramid Planter (ACQ Pressure-Treated Lumber)

Build a stacked, four-tier pyramid planter using ACQ pressure-treated lumber: assemble a rectangular base frame, add X cross-braces, cut angled support legs to form a pyramid on a central 4x4 post, attach four shelf frames, cap the post, and fill tiers with garden soil.

The build, step by step

Cut and Assemble the Base Frame

Cut 2 lengths of 2x4 to 30" and 2 lengths of 2x4 to 27". Fasten them together into a rectangular frame using #8 x 3" deck screws. Pre-drill all holes to prevent splitting. Note: the source diagram draws this frame rotated on its point for illustration, but gives no cut angle for these four pieces (unlike the cross-braces and support legs, which do specify angles) — this guide treats it as a standard square-cut rectangular frame, matching the finished photo below.

Cut the Cross-Braces

Cut a 2x4 to 38" long with a 45° angle at each end (see cut-detail inset). Cut 2 more lengths of 2x4 to 18-1/4", each with a 45° angle at one end. These three pieces will form an X-shaped brace inside the base frame — insert them as shown in the next step.
